The Beacon Hill and the Bloggess

Back in 2006, I came across a blog post called "The haunted dollhouse" by someone named "Jenny (toddler mom)." (Yes, I ignore last names completely, I guess.) I have no idea how I came across this post. Perhaps I was searching random blogs? Maybe I googled "dollhouse?" I really don't know. But the dollhouse I landed on made my head spin. I left a comment and then decided to eventually get my own house.

What you see above is a partially-worked-on Beacon Hill from Greenleaf Dollhouses. This house RULES. And I worked on it diligently in Chicago for many years. My older readers may or may not recall the Battle of the Staircase. That little staircase was quite the b*tch.

Anyway, a while back Jenny the Bloggess mentioned she had written about her dollhouse over on Good/Bad Mom, so I went to take a look.

*record screeching*

That's the same dollhouse! The dollhouse that started it all!

Jenny (toddler mom) is Jenny the Bloggess? How did THAT happen? How did this dollhouse creator that I worshiped back in 2006 turn out to be the same person I adore now but with a totally different name in 2011? Well, the Jenny part is the same. But you understand. Somehow in my early blogging days, I landed on this page with a dollhouse and then exchanged a few comments with a total stranger and years later started doing the same thing but never realized they were The Same Jenny.

I blame all of this on the fact that Jenny (toddler mom) and Jenny the Bloggess don't have the same picture/graphic. I'm all about visuals, people. I recognize people by sight, not name. Anyway, I was thrilled. Now I can bug Jenny the Bloggess if I ever need dollhousing tips.

Because that dollhouse above? It's coming back to life. Complete with the Serial Killer Room, the Space Room, The Wizard of Oz yellow brick staircase, etc. It's time to get out wood glue and sandpaper, people. Cheers for hobbies. WHOOT!

A special thanks to Jenny for the inspiration--after all of these years.

I so love this.

And you've inspired me to take new pictures of the dollhouse. It never stops evolving. Be prepared for an obsession that will suck in all of your extra time, my friend.

I think you should include a panic room in your dollhouse.

I soooo need a panic room. Just for when I panic by myself about nothing.
